Starting Problem still unresolved but working on it.

Sometimes the starter will turnover the engine other times it won't. I thought it was the battery connections-fixed that-but the problem continues.

I just pulled the starter( appreciate OzluvTruckers comments about removing starter from top)

Will take to start/gen shop in the morning.

Question ????....I've been trying to locate a Starter Relay in case I need it. Part number 94030647.---(Can't make out the numbers on the relay)Chev/Isuzu says it has been discontinued.

Rock Auto.com doesn't list one for a LUV but does for an Isuzu. Part Number RY55.

Anyone have comments on the above and/or a source for these types of parts.

Incidently Oreilly Auto Parts has a re-built starter for $99.00. Part number 16739

It's usually brushes. There's a good post at IsuzuPup.com with instructions and photos of how to change them. Sorry, I don't have the link right now.

Local overhauler discovered that the magnetic switch (solenoid) on starter was worn away. Only one side was making contact.

He disassembled, lubed and repaired assembly, replaced contacts, said the brushes were OK.

Starter works great now. No need for the start relay.

thanks for the comments.

well, does it make a clicking sound when it does not turn over? because mine and my dads used to do the same thing, what it is is there is a fuseable link on the back of the ignition key, if you wiggle that around it will make it better. a way to test to see if it is the back of the key is to take a screwdriver to your starter and jump it acrossed manually with the key on and the truck in neutral. if it works then it is deffinitally that stupid little thing. what my dad did was just wire a push-button so that you have to turn the key on and then the push button goes right to the starter, works every time and i guarantee you that it will work for you.
