I have a 82 chevy silverado diesel and the glow plugs are not coming on and the engine cranks over but does not start. I don't know much about diesels and I am guessing I need my glow plugs to start the engine. Can I run a hot wire from the glow plugs to a switch in the cab or something along those lines.

Thanks

Cody

Make sure the glowplugs are rated for 12 volts before putting full voltage to them. I understand a lot of glowplugs are only rated at 5 volts.
If you put full voltage to the glow plugs, apply the voltage for no more than 5 seconds and see what happens.
Hope this helps.
