I need step-by-step instructions on how to change fuel filter on my 1981 LUV diesel 4WD. I successfully installed a new filter, but I can't get fuel flowing through the lines again. My mechanic friend told me that I just needed to open the lines to the injectors in the order they fire. I don't know what order they fire in, so I just tried a bunch of random orders and I can't get fuel to come out. There shouldn't be too much air in the lines--I put all of it back into the new filter. Am I missing a step? Does anyone know the firing order on this engine?
By the way, I love my truck & I hate not being able to drive it! Help get me back on the road!

By the way, the original fuel filter housing is no longer in the truck. Unfortunately, it was replaced with a filter housing that has no pumping mechanism.... bummer.

Lauren,

You need to post that over at the Isuzu P'up site, too (http://www.isuzupup.com). We even have another member it Pittsboro, NC who can probably help you!

I think if you can get an uninterrupted supply of fuel to the pump, the pump will take it to the motor. I've never had to loosen my fuel lines to the injectors, but I do still have the stock filter. Pee Roy is right, an inline pump will work. But I can understand not wanting to buy and install one, they're close to $50. Do you have an air compressor?

Jack
