Firstly find where its leaking from. If its leaking fom the small hole under the shaft (1/8 size hole) where the shaft exits the pump, the seal is worn and pump needs to be replaced. If its leaking from where the pump mates to the timing cover you may be able to reseal it with silicon gasket maker. Removing the pump will not take you to close to the timing. I would source a new pump before pulling the old, there may be too much corrosion to simply just reseal and go again.
