What kind of a setup does one need to install a Tach to work with a 2.2L Diesel?

Regards,
Bob

If you have a "W" terminal on the back of your alternator, you can use the "Universal Diesel Alternator Tachometer Interface" from Dakota Digital to connect any standard ignition tachometer.

You still need the W terminal, but for me I used a marine Diesel tach for a boat, installed it in a 3" abs coupler, and mounted it on my a pillar. Only counts to 4000rpm, which is fine for me as the engine only revs to 4200 anyway, and yo get a good sweep with this one.

Thanks, I will look into this and let you know what I found out. Wow, that interface is 65 bucks.

AutoMeter makes one for small diesel's; 5k rpm; sensor gets signal from the altenator. That is....sensor straps around the altenator with supplied stainless steel hose clamp.

Here is the info below. Autometer also has the installation instructions for download on its site if you want to see whats involved. I shopped and this was the bestprice I found on line at the time.

BTW, Where I istalled it, the ring of the mount needs to be "bent/twisted" so it's more in line with a better view to the drivers view. If this doesnt make sense, it will if you install it in the same place.

CabezonBD, perfect, thanks. I have been searching their site all this time but all I needed was that number and it is all clear now, I like it. Thanks again for your time.
