I rescently have had problems with my 82 Luv Diesel. i think its the tranny but am not sure. When i shift first to second and to third, the truck begins to shake violently. on fourth and fifth gear it appears to be better but not like before. When the truck is parked and turned on, the motor sounds like normal. Can anyone help?? Thanks!

How about when your coasting.....
With the clutch in?
With it in neutral and the clutch out?

In gear and on the throttle and then off the throttle.... Anything different?

there is only a problem as I release the clutch in first and second gear and hit the "gas." if i am in a flat road and simply release the clutch, the truck will move really slow but will not shake. When I let go of the throttle sometimes it stops shaking. Also, sometimes if I rev it more than normal, it stops shaking. In neutral, it almost seems to be perfectly fine.

Thanks For your help rondog

Sounds like clutch chatter to me. You could have a warped flywheel, or somehow, oil is getting on the clutch, and that will cause it to "chatter".

Chatter will happen when the clutch peddle is being let out, but once it's all the way out it will stop.
I mean, without seeing it or driving it, it's just my guess, but my guess is you have oil from the eng. or the trans., leaking down onto the clutch, and now it is basically ruined, and chatters.

You want to take a look at it and drive it? I live in Fullerton. Maybe I can meet you somewhere

That's ok. I'm not a mechanic. My guess would still be a non professional guess. You should maybe take it to a real trans. shop and see what they think.

But next time (who knows when) we have a breakfast meet, I'll make sure you know. In the past it's only been Ben, Luvrv8, and me.
