Turbo or no turbo isn't the issue, it's the fact that the motors are designed for stationary operation and constant RPM, under different conditions than a truck would normally operate in.

There was a previous thread here about this, and one over at IsuzuPup.com about the C201 motor.

I had an '87 Peterbilt tractor that had an 300 hp Cummins L-10. The L-10 eng. was originally designed for stationary use. I bought the tractor used, so I was not on any mailing lists. When my eng let go, (it had 300,000 miles on it), the shop said early on, there had been a recall for replacement of the main journal bolts. When put into truck use, they were braking. That's what mine did. So an in frame rebuild with new main bolts, and it was a great truck ever after.
