Wow! That's exactly the truck I want: Dual headlights, disc brakes and most imporantly... a diesel engine. If that was offored in the states I would be looking for one instead of trying to piece it together. Tell me that setup wasn't available here in the u.s. 8O

P.S. Your master cylinder is on the wrong side :P

 I thought the engine would be upside down or something. Actually, the only diesels I've seen were in the 81 up, as Ctmandu said. Very clean, and I LUV the battery color. Nice truck.

Hi, no actually your engine is not the same as the engine we had as an option for the U.S. spec LUV in 1981. That marked the first year a diesel engine was available for the Chevy LUV and it was put into the newer body style (2nd generation) truck. The engine used was the Isuzu C223 sized at 2.2 liters and making 58 HP @ 4300 RPM/93 FT LBS @ 2200 RPM. We did receive the C190 diesel engine in this country, just not in the form of an automotive application (or in other words never put into a vehicle from the factory). For the most part C190s were used as industrial engines for generators, stationary units, and also possibly for marine use. You have a nice truck there too, being a factory 72-80 LUV with a diesel engine! Too bad we didn't get that option in let's say the last two years of the 1st generation body style. Would have been very cool and I'm sure they would have sold.

I have to say OZ your engine bay is clean. If you take the fact that it is a diesel that says allot. Looks like you really take care of your truck.

Is it possible to get a pic of your emergency/park brake cables? I do not see it on your truck the way it is on ours, this could help us V-8 guys that had to delete our system.

The E brake cables are the same in Aus as US, only diffrence is e handle location. What the guys here in Aus do is fit a small brake disk to trans output and use a cable operated brake caliper.

It came with the same engine here! All of mine was. I fitted C223 engines to mine. We had a small truck waith a C240 engine. It was a 2.3l engine wit a small bore and long stroke, was slow but powerfull! We had such a engine fitted to our 4X4 and it was great!
I wish my trucks was as neat as your's! I know an old fellow who's truck looks so good!
By us the diesel LUV's had a radiator overflow bottle, but not the petrol version.
