Hey There,I'm a new guy who just happens to own a very rough but good running 1.8L Diesel Chevette and a very clean 1979 4x4 LUV with a bad motor.

Is there any hope for mating the 1.8 diesel to the 1.8 gasoline tranny?

This looks like a question for 800xl, he comes in here often and will get you a answer soon.

If im correct and the chevette engine is the same as an i mark , which is the same as an Isuzu Gemini here in Australia. Yes the gearbox will bolt up to a G180 G200 Luv engine. Its common here in OZ to fit the diesel gearbox to a g series engine because of the larger clutch and better ratios.

So this little I-Mark/Gemini/Chevette 1.8 Diesel engine will bolt right up to the
tranny in my 1979 LUV 4x4?

That's great!

I'll be able to run diesel, biodiesel, etc in my little LUV and LUV is that much more :D

I wonder what engine mounts will be required for this swap and if I can get some of the accessory brackets for A/C and what not to swap from the gasser onto the diesel?
