Hello, new here an just starting project truck and want to get it running right first. My glow plugs have been bad ever since I bought it a couple months ago, I just figured glow plugs are $10 or so a pop - no problem. Except GM seems to have discontinued that part (ref# 94439218) and won't give me any more info on it other than the number. Any advice on how to make sure I'm getting the right replacement? Is there a substantial difference between the glow in my engine vs a '81 - '82 LUV 2.2L? Thanks in advance for any help!

Jeremiah

I recently purchased glow plugs for my 2.2 Liter diesel Luv (82) at:

http://www.partsamerica.com/Default.aspx

Beck/Arnley Part # 176-1643

They do not show the part for an 84 S-10 2.2L diesel, but they do show that part fits an 84 Isuzu L4 PU 2.2l diesel. So I would ask your dealer if your engine is the same Isuzu. I suspect it is and that it is the part you need.

BTW, the new plugs made a world of difference on cold starts.

The motor is the same one. Not sure the glow circuit is the same. Most manufacturers switched to faster-cycling glow circuits around 1982. My P'up has the fast system, and it's an '83, but I don't know about the older ones. I'd make sure to get plugs for an '83 or later P'up (or Trooper).

Based on what DMZ says, the part is the same for '82 and '84. There have been lots of these on eBay lately.

I know this is unrelated, but if any-one finds an S10 diesel parts truck, I willpay top dollar for the Bell housing that bolts to a T5 manual tranny.
see my profile for contact info.
Thanks, Terry
