I have a 1981 luv. D , with 420,765 miles bought new in 81. It has the original clutch & pressure plate . I burn hydraulic oil, ATF CORN, OIL & other oils. One problem I am having with the injectors is that the seal carbons up after 1200 mi. However, free fuel is worth 20 min of work. Does any one have suggestions on how to keep the carbon off of the injector tips?

I have used stuff, I am not sure how effective it is on diesels or if it is even right for your application, but it does clean a lot of stuff up, and that is SeaFoam. It goes in your intake while the truck is running and burns, you get a cool smoke show out of it, pretty knarley. Check for verification from other members before you try it though.

Maybe try an additive for diesels in the fuel you are running. Like Power Service or Lucas or any thing that is for diesel but is an injector cleaner. There are several at the truck stops.
Even if you have to use a bottle with every tank, that is still a full tank for $5 or $10. 8)

I know some of the guys that run straight oil (like sunflower oil) cut it with a little gasoline in order to keep the glycerine in the unprocessed oil (i.e. not biodiesel) from causing problems. If I recall right, it is generally 1 gallon to every 15-20 gallons of oil.

It's probably not just your injectors, but may also be your pistons, your rings, your ports, your valves...have you had the head off?

There's some good reading at the Frybrid.com site that addresses this. Their conclusion is, you must preheat veggie oil (optimally, at least 160° F.), and you must have the engine at full operating temperature or you will get carbon deposits.

I remember reading a recommendation that you advance your injection timing by about 2 degrees when using biodiesel. I imagine un-deesteritized fuel is similar. The carbon could be that the fuel doesn't have time for complete combustion.
