I live in central NC and was looking for a diesel engine for a 79 4 wheel drive. Any ideas

Is your truck already a diesel or is it gas? I am unaware of diesels being offered in 1979.

The best success I have found in locating one is in the local wrecking yard or the nickel adds. Both have been good with in a month or two at the most.

If your truck is gas now, your best bet is to find a complete diesel truck due to the differeces in the drivetrane. Good Luck.
