I'm in need of advice from anyone and everyone...

I'm looking to get into my local track's "enduro" class... Basically each race is a 20 lap event around a banked 1/3 mile oval, with stock cars.

I need to find a well rounded car... something with good power, a rather low ride height, and good in the corners... but it also has to meet the rules

Nothing too drastic... it has to be basically a stock car, in its stock form... American made, with a v6 or v8, rear wheel drive.. and must be accurate to model and year... no mustang 5.0 or 4.6, no corvettes, hearses, limos, or trucks, and no rear or mid engine cars... basically thats it.... besides the standard saftey equipment...

Anyone have any ideas on what car would fulfill this??
Any little bits of wisdom to a new driver?

Any help would be greatly appreciated..
~Aaron

VW Rabbit GTI. 100hp, 1800 lbs or so. Good handeling, Common SCCA autocross car, club racer, and rally car. 1.8l engine , parts are cheap, engine is very dependable. Made im Westmorland PA. from 79-84 I am not sure if that counts or not.

Ok scratch that one. It you don't need big size. A Chev Monza, it came with a factory V8.

Some later model Pontiac firebirds and Camaros may be cheap enough. Next would be a, chevell or cutlass, or some H-body car.

Not much of a Ford man, but there may be something out there.

Small dodge or plymouth came with V8's

Good hunting and have funn with it..

Thumbs up on the gremlin 8) ... but where to find one???(especially in this area of the U.S.)

I was considering a camaro/firebird.. but i kinda want to be different.. so many people use them in this particular race that it just wouldnt seem right....

Thanks,
~Aaron

Thanks,
~Aaron

well it`s too bad it has to be american made an rx7 would be grat or a nissan 280z would be good. how about a truck throw on some larger sway bars lower it about six inches. well if you want to be different and stay american. I would have to agree vega, or monza or pontiac sunfire with a v6. I have seen some of the pontiac fieros around pretty cheap they came with 6 and 4. oh thats right you said it can`t be rear engine either oh well
