do you have any idea how much unnecessary weight that is on my poor old 45 year old house?

id love to get my hands on the stupid lazyass bastards that did the last 3-4 roofs

no doubt, i used to be a sheet metal tech before i got into the casino bus. and that is alot of tearing off. How long did it take them to tear the roof off or are they done. Suprised your damn roof didnt fall in with all that added weight.

they aint tearing if off....yet anyway. they just needed to cut into it to attach the new roof for the addition.

id say its gonna take at least 2-3 days to rip it all up.

luckly the house is framed w/ old rough cut hardwood lumber. even the sides are sawn 1" hardboards. probaly the only thing that kept it standing.

no that hard to belive.... i'm working on a place down the road from me. built in the 1890's has two layers of cedar shake, flat tin, two lavers of rolled and two lavers of regular comp shingles......the first time we got up on the roof my apprentice had a few lavers give loose and send him for a ride.

oh yeah.... under all that roofing and the rafters the building has a Dirt roof filled in over creosoted sawn 1" plank.

just thank god you're not tearing it off and cleaning that mess off the ground.

kinda hard to tell but those are 1" thick hardwood planks. trying to nail into them is like nailing into a brick wall.

Image

the hallway/laundry room.

and my new roof from the inside. THAT is the reason i hired out to do this....i would have fuckered that all up.
