for the last month or so there has been a 64 impala 2 dr hardtop sitting on a trailer for sale just down the road. i drive by this thing everyday and always wondered how much they was askin. being it was a 64 2dr hardtop and it looked decent (from a distance) i figured a small fortune. everyone of my buddies that i talked to about it wondered the same thing.

well yesterday i was out riding and figured what the hell...ill stop.

i pull up and the first thing i see is $1000 OBO on the for sale sign. well the body is totaly trashed. every panel needs either replaced or patched. BUT all the glass is intact and the inteior aint too bad. all the seats and everything was there but the floorboards are rusted out.

so now im thinking, ok $1000 needs a complete resto, its gotta be missing the engine and tranny. i couldnt get the hood up so i walk up to the house to ask about it.

turns out that the car belonged to the guys nephew and he just sold it that morning, the buyer was coming back that eve to pick it up.....well shit, oh well i dont need another project anyway. so i chat w/ the guy for a bit any way and ask about the engine and tranny...hes says yeah its got it. a freshly rebuilt 327 and a 2spd powerglide 8O !!!!!!.......SON OF A BITCH!!!!!!!

hell for $1000 i could have at least yanked the eng and trans parted out what i could on ebay and scrapped the rest!

just goes to show....never be afraid to ask.

well i've passed up a few cars before. well today's incident for me was the worst that happened. well today was the yearly burnout contest in my home town. well i'm in japan so i cant be there for the contest. never NEVER leave one person incharge of your vehicle for a contest or even two people for that matter. I left my mom and my dad in charge of driveing my newly painted and rebuilt luv. well today one of them was supposta drive it in our towns yearly burn out contest. well I gave them both specific instructions. my old shop teacher has my truck in his shop and maintains it till i get back. well they both were told by my shop teacher to be at the garage early before 8am. well i told them to be thereat least 30min to an hr earlier to wait for him well my mom showed up at 10 min before 8, and luck be it he already left for his other job.I had been calling them every night!! makeing sure i dummy proffed my plan but luck have it no matter what i told them they forgot!!!! well apparently people dont have common sence to call his other job. so a long story short tell about 5 - 10 people your plan, tell them to be waiting for the other person about an hr before time, go over the plan about a month to two months ahead of time every night with every person so that that there is NO excuse for them to mess it up!! today i was expecting an e-mail with pics of my truck peeling out but I was dissapointed to find that my parents lack common sence. the guys job was about 5 miles away and i called him and he said that he would have gladly given them the keys if they would have asked, they knew where he worked and the phone number. sorry guys for this but i just had to get this out i've been mad about this all day.

taborjoshjlt: I don't mean to rag on you man, but I'm busting a gut trying to imagine even asking my parents to "make sure my truck gets to a burnout contest." I can just see the look on Mom's face...

larp: Good deals come and go, but dollars in your pocket mostly just tend to go. Almost every time I have passed up one deal, another comes along and I've been glad I still had the money.
