I need some help from you computer geeks. lol

on my boyfriend's computer, images show up funny, like all pixelly and blurry at the same time, but only when he's online. Images he's already saved to his computer look normal. But, now if he tries to save an image from the internet to his computer, it copies all pixelly and blurry. It didn't used to do this, does anyone know why this is happening? :?:

thanks

Sounds like some sort of "High Speed" dialup option is turned on. MSN and Netzero both have something of this sort. They compress text and images so they theoretically download faster. No problem for the text, but images get degraded.

MSN calls theirs Dialup Acclerator or something like that. Right click on the little blinky light modem icon in the bottom left of the windows bar and it should get several speed settings. Try it at a lower setting and see if that helps.

Netzero or other internet providers I don't know about specifically, but just look for so called "speed up" options and turn them down or off. I think there are a couple of independent programs that claim to do similar things. It could also be a proxy server setting in Internet Explorer. If the browser is using a proxy server that is compressing the images that could be the source of the trouble. Look for that in the connections tab of internet properties in the control panel.

If he's not using dialup or this doesn't help, I'd probably need more info to help. What operating system, what internet provider, etc.

thank you, you were right! I went through every item on the NetZero tool bar, turning off certain things and turning on others, lol the "high speed", the "image quality" the "settings" the "disable advanced features" and finally it told me to see an image at full quality I right click it and choose either "show all images at full quality" or "show image at full quality" wow it was that easy, lol.

anyways thanks! it's been so annoying to see all the images blurry

I had to deal with the MSN version of this stuff on my parent's computer. As if MSN dialup service isn't slow and buggy enough, they had to add another layer in there where they can screw things up. "High Speed", Dialup Accelerator, and all the other flavors of this crap basically amount to marketing only. Performance is absolutly not improved.

Yup, like a fake hood scoop and NOS stickers on a ricer. Polishing a turd just makes it shiny, its still gonna stink.
