Yeah I can barely wait to jump in it and drive it around the block! I have only run the motor for about 20 mins for a basic run in and leak check, it sounds so nice (who needs mufflers!) I rapped the throttle once and the whole car nearly jumped off the jackstands, I think its ready to play with the mustangs and camaros at the local track! Just have to finish putting everything in, takes so much time and $$$ but it's like a drug now, I cant stop! lol! I am hoping to have it dialed in and running good by this April for the local Kool april nights drags for it's debut appearance so to speak. Seems likes a long time, but anyone building a car/LUV knows that is like next week! lol

pretty nice. you need some subframe connecters asap. those bodies twist up real easy even with a mild motor. I had a 64 and a 66 some of my most favorite cars.

a few months ago my friends 62 just cracked a 9.78 on a tiny 8" slick!!! 421 sbc on a progressive 175 shot. stock suspension. 1.47 short time. I gotta admit I was a doubter with that small tire but he did it.

VERY NICE!!!!!!! I love them ol Nova's.

My neighbor has a '64, he says it's pushin close to 650 horses......& I believe it. 13:1 comp., etc, the list goes on & on. He has 3 55 gallon barrels in his garage full of Blue Gas.

Being a young un' i haven't seen a whole lot of cars being fully restored like that. But i have to say that YOUR nova is one of if not the nicest i have seen. At it's present point and place, of course.

Yeah the subframe connectors are one of the last additions as I plan to drive it to a friends shop to weld them in. I am hoping for a 1.4 short time myself, and maybe dip into the nines, but I am not commiting to anything just yet! Was your friend running caltracs by chance? After hashing with a few other nova guys I took the plunge and ordered a set myself, apparently according to caltracs 1.39 short times are being reached on a small tire with those things, amazing! Has anyone yet to have a set made for a LUV truck?? They make them custom now for about the same price, I had to have the shock/spring plate fabbed for the 3 1/4" rear housing, they have a form for custom sets, just go to their website.

he did 1.47 short times on a slapper bar!!! of course the rubber snubber is gone and theres a bolt in place of it. it literally leaves with a BANG when the bolt hits the leaf spring. Calvert bars are the best bolt on traction device for a leaf spring car IMO. but they will bend your leafsprings after a while (especially monoleafs). as far as Cal Tracs for a LUV, I believe the S10 bars will work.

heres some pics of my 66 . I had cal tracs on this one Image

I almost forgot... I had also had a grey 63 hard top with a full frame and 10 pt bar. minitubbed, 4 linked, 13" tire. I sold it to my neighbor and its hitting the streets with a big small block soon.

Nice 66 man! You still have it?? and yah my buddy already warned me about the calvert bars bending the leafs, but they (calvert) have a cool split leaf design I plan to update to in the near future (when I know what ride ht and rate I want) that works cool, the front half is just like a solid flat bar like the leaf but much thicker, and the rear section is just the spring part, so in essence it is just another 4-link design, and seems to be working real well for guys I know around here. I just hope the stock leafs last till my wallet can catch up! ha! I already upgraded to a larger tire, got a 27x10.5 DOT PRO under with no problems, had to slide the rear back 3/4" - I need to stop upgrading or I will never drive the damn thing! Im waiting on some bushings, and a fuel cell I picked up cheap on dragstuff.com

Derek
