First of all I would like to say whats up, I havent posted a topic in a while.
I just have a question about my chevy nova, I let my mother in law borrow it  and she overfilled the oil by about 2 quarts :drinking:
What would be the first thing to go if it has been overfilled too long, it is leaking oil everywhere, I guess a cop pulled them over because it was smoking so bad that the cop thought they were on fire . "I dont care who you are thats funny"
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know

I would first ....drain ALL oil and then put back in the CORRECT amount, then see what leaks what smokes etc and go from there 8)
If it hasn't been run too hard or far or long this way you might come out okay, but otherwise uuuuggghhhh......not good

Usually when it is overfilled it builds up too much pressure on the main seals, you may look there (hopefully not the one in the back 8O ).

I've heard that black smoke is running too rich, blue smoke is burning oil, and white smoke is water getting into the cylinders which is usually a bad head gasket.

That sucks, I was going to change it anyway because I have to get deep into the engine to find the knock that it has when taking off from a stop. I was hoping that it was just a valve spring that was broken but I will see. Thanks for the help.
