My dad suggested that I join the Coast Guard after high school to pay for college. Does anyone know what it's like? I was wondering if you guys think this is a good idea. Thanks :)

I would join the airforce. Easy job, great pay (as long as you fly. Don't turn wrenches like me) and they are treated better than most other branches of service.

I agree with Grimace. The Air Force is the way to go. I would not recommend turning wrenches when compared with other jobs. I'd stay away from the Navy right now. They are in the middle of another drawdown of personnel.

If you join the Coast Guard, you could find yourself on the bow of a Hovercraft manning a machine gun patroling inlet waterways along the Kuwati coastline. I was in the Air Force and i wish i had picked a better cafsc. Instruments and Avionics is the way to go. Dont go with N.D.T. Thats for Pussies.
