well today i finished the 1.9 swap into the 80 luv. i haven't gotten to take it out of the shop yet cause we just had a slab pored in front of the shop and it will be next week before i can drive over it. today was the first day in 2 weeks that i got to work on it. i have had no time whatsoever, thats why i haven't been on me. its getting to that time at the end of the semester at college where i have tons of tests and tons of homework. but its such a relief to get the luv done. can't wait to take it out and try the 1.9, it runs as smooth as glass. i went ahead and swaped in the electronic ignition, and took the jets out of the 1.9 carb and put in the 1.8 carb. the 1.9 carb has bigger jets but was computer controlled. the only thing i had to change on the motor was the oilpan. it was different and hit the front axle when i lowered the motor in. but i was glad i took the pan off cause the pan had a hole punched through the plate in the pan that seperates the deep valley from the front part of the pan. the engine was real clean and had no marks on it. i figure at some time the motor threw a rod and some one replaced it with a rebuilt long block. the freeze plugs looked brand new and the rear seal looked brand new, plus it had 170 psi of compression which is what its supposed to have new. so i ended up getting a almost new 1.9 for my luv to replace the worn out 1.8.
