Ok...so here's the deal. I own a 1972 LUV(pics in gallery under Steven S.) Why are the pics of the 1972 luvs for sale on E-Bay different than mine......i.e.( tail lights, hazzard light switch, tail gate). Did Chevy decide to make 2 body styles in 1972?? If so...is one worth more than the other.

Well there is one for my list of LUV changes, I never noticed the hazard light switch was down next to the headlights on the older luvs instead of on the steering collumn. I'll have to pin down the years on that, but I'd guess 72-74 probably. Other than color of the knob I don't see the difference you are talking about between your truck and the one on ebay. The ebay truck probably just has some other knob in place instead of the stock one.

72 LUVs should have round tail lights, but I bet a few of them made late in the year were switched over to the 73-74 style with squarish lights, but still under the tailgate. Isuzu did that sort of thing a few times later down the line, so it would not surprise me on the 72s as well. The reflectors/lights in your tailgate may be a 72 only thing or perhaps the ebay guy shaved them out.

As for worth, I'm not sure LUVs have hit a point of having that sort of "worth" to them yet. If they have or ever do, round tail lights were the first model, and would therefore be more special at least in terms of age.

75 and newer trucks have the tail lights vertically mounted in the corners of the bed, making the tail gate a bit narrower. The hazard switch is a little red peg that sticks out the right side of the steering collumn.

The hazzard light switch that I am talking about on the 72 luv that is on E-Bay is located on the left side of the dash..( next to the headlight switch.) On my 72 LUV the switch is the same....except that it is under the E-Brake handle on the right side of the dash. The stamp on my door says my LUV was manufactured Dec. 1971.

So your truck has the hazard switch that looks like the one on ebay but it is just on the other side of the wheel or is it not mounted like that at all? Where is your windshield wiper switch? It should be in the lower dash panel with the ignition on the right side of the wheel, with the headlights in the same position on the left side of the wheel. I wonder if your hazard and windshield wiper switches are swapped or something. (Either factory for an early 72 or someone switched them later down the line)

Any others here with 72-74 trucks care to comment?

The hazzard light switch is mounted on the left side of the E-Brake handle mount. It is factory. All the rest of dash switches are correct and in the right order. If I knew how to put a pic up... I could show you just what I mean.
