Well, as you may not know native Oregonians make up roughly 40% of the population in Oregon. This percentage decreases even further as you compare state govenment personnel, highest incomes in the state, and others.
My point is this... Maybe the problem isn't with Oregonians, maybe it's with people coming from other places, like say....Modesto. As a native of this state, I can tell you that it has changed dramatically in the last 20-25 years. I can't tell you how many times I've heard something similar to what you've said... "...back in _____ we do it this way." Whatever! My response is always the same. If it's so great, go back. This state was fine before everyone who's come here from other states/countries try to change things to make it a reflection of back home...
As for engine prices, figure between 2-3 million people in the state right now. California has what @ 34 million. That equates to alot more cars, and consequently motors, trannies(auto, manual, human) and everything that goes along with them. Supply and demand is at work here. all the circle track guys gobble up v8's faster than they can be pulled and we want em too. Not a big inventory of v8's. Add those and you get high prices.
THAT's whats up with flippen Oregonians.
Sorry just had to respond.
