It was a Trident II shot from the USS Kentucky sub off of the coast. Since I live 5 miles from this I can remember when Naval Station Ventura County was called Point Mugu Pacific Missile Test Center. This is nothing new around here. That missile is capable of 7000 miles at 1500 plus MPH.
My dad worked at Mugu for 20 plus years. He would tell us he would have to work on certain nights, we would ask why, all he would say is he had to work. He worked in Range Communacations out there. Laguna Peak, the mountain behind Mugu with all of the equipment on the top and is a major relay station for subs in the Pacific.

This is called a NOTAM, it's a special notice to airman about airspace restrictions. We pilots check these before every flight, it's nice to know befor you come nose to nose with a missile.
