i sent a isuzu 2wd trans "or most of one" USPS LOL
it was a diesel up-grade trans and he did'ent need the gas housing on the front any way
went about 600 miles and was about $90
there about 80lbs with no oil and front housing.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DOING THIS WITH A GAS TANK, JUST A DIESEL ONE..thats been open for a long time.
guy back east that wanted a S\B diesel tank....lol
first box i took was about 6" over the over size limit and UPS said something like $150+ please.....
went to USPS and they still wanted about $130.....
being that i was only getting $50 for the thing it was time for plan B...................
i more or less made a custom sized box that the tank barely slipped in, and it was about $35.00 to ship around 2,500 miles to road salt country.
since it had been open to air for 2 years or so it did'ent even smell of fuel.
but for a trans over 200lbs yea LTL is going to be the best bang..
im looking at getting my JDM 4JB1-T diesel shipped from the east to out west. its about 700lbs including the MUA trans, there quoting about $600
got a tale gate one time through LTL freight shipping thought it was super odd, tell i saw the box it came in, it was ginormous. so even though it was maybe 60lbs the super jumbo size of the box let them LTL it at a discount...
