Not one LUV pic... I don't see it unless most of the 'new' generation buys it already build. Hands on fab work doesn't cross over well from hands on a video game...

I see a resurgence of the mini-truck scene here in the Spokane area.
And I can tell you that every day I'm impressed with the enthusiasm of the local youths when it comes to fabrication and insane engine swaps.
I'll get some pics of engine bays from the next SPO-TOC meet for ya'll to see that not all hope is lost on the youth of today. 8)

The big thing is no one makes a small truck anymore. I don't know well they would sell. Not every one needs a full size truck or a midsize truck. No small trucks or El Camino. Our Austrians brothers have some neet stuff. If they..would make something with of todays technology It would sell I think
Mandra waste talking about bringing a small truck over here. Gas and diesel.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

i have noticed a lot more custom trucks showing up in various levels of outrageousness, mostly the usual Nissan and s10s. im still not understanding why no one sells a small truck anymore you see them everywhere.

I read this in an old car magazine once. One custom vehicle will inspire 12 more projects to be started. I think that is pretty true for the most part, however of the 12 projects I think only a few ever get completed. It is great to see younger guys working on their own stuff and if a mini truck will motivate them I am all for it. 8)

I can't understand why there is no longer a small truck sold in America. I would really like to bring a mid 2000s LUV up from Mexico, but I'm not sure if that would be allowed to come over. It's not just the trucks either. Look at the size of a 2014 Honda Civic as compared to a 1975 Civic.

You can thank crumple zones, side impact requirements, and 'pedestrian safety through vehicle design' for the generalized 'puffiness' you're describing. There are laws requiring cars to meet these standards even if it means a less-beautiful or less-efficient vehicle.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crumple_zone
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Side_Impac ... ion_System
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedestrian ... cle_design

After satisfying these standards, and making sure the passengers still fit inside the vehicle, you are left with something about the size of a regular-cab tacoma bit.ly/1pk5RJF, or a colorado maybe? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the tacoma is really the LUV's pillowy modern analogue.

Why Chevy does not compete with it in the US is a mystery to me. If I had to guess, I'd say that they are trying to avoid peeling any customers away from their larger-truck market. Most truck owners are pretty brand-sensitive so offering a smaller truck may only convince other chevy buyers to get a smaller truck, instead of gaining market share from other small-truck manufacturers in the US.

Ok, I have to say something and hope I don't get shit for it. I don't consider a S10 a mini truck.

It isn't, it is a mid size but they do get grouped into the minitruck category.

Your the only S10 owner that I have talked to about the that agrees with me. But again, we are a bit, well let's call it finely aged and we went through the old mini days of the late 70's thru early 80's.

I have seen a lot more wild minis turning up the last couple years, a lot of bagged hack jobs but plenty of nice well put together ones, a lot of datsuns especially, s10s have been about steady in popularity quite a while, noticing a few more luvs around in the last couple months too. would be nice to see more of them pop up but that means less cheap parts so im torn
