Some of us are a bit older then others. For the younger crowd this is what some of us did on Friday and Saturday nights in the 80's. This is why Tilted is called Tilted.

I had a white 73 LUV. I was poor and couldn't afford a tilt. Had that truck from 86 to 90.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I would see the beds cut down the center and tilting to both rear corners.

Have you looked in the owners picture area? Also he has a link to his website at the bottom of his posts.

Sorry Tilted, you have to admit in the video it looks like tilt beds were overdone at least in Hawaii.

Of course a few prime specimens must be preserved for mankind and your truck surely qualifies as one. 8)

Re-preserving the truck at the moment (when I get any free time)
How she sits as of now

Why new doors?

I can't bring myself to think of us "vintage" mini truckers of the ricers of the day. Let the younger ones here understand when we had problems or wanted to modify something all we had was a copy of mini truckin and friends. Still miss those days.

Makes me mad these kids nowdays have all this information at their fingertips and have no clue how to use it, sure wish I had it available when I got my truck. When I put the V-6 in it all I had was Truckin magazine (minitruckin didnt exist yet) for reference, a land line to make long distance charged calls to companies and my ingenuity to make things work, and it only took me a couple of weekends to get it in and roadworthy.

Us younger generation are thankful for you guys, your knowledge and sharing it. You guys should be thankful for us too making huge advancements in technology, that helps keeping these classics on the road, better than factory

Ah ah, don't forget, the map is not the territory. True, we kids have lots of references, but you'd probably agree that the trial and error of experience is the only way to get any good. And we have all these precedents to look at, but somehow it doesn't seem like there's as much....time(or spare money) to do big mods like those. I really wonder why it seems that way...

Believe me, that video had me daydreaming about getting an actuated bed, drooling over how easily unloading kayaks would get. And besides, you get extra credit because you had to do it yourself to know if it would work, which is why you're good at it now, right?

Maybe another way to say it is to ask how many projects you started that just got too big to ever be finished? I feel like I've been able to avoid some whoppers by getting on the internet first and seeing if my harebrained plan is the best use of my (unfortunately limited) resources.

I guess I'd agree with you that we're paralyzed with options. But someday, when I've got the means to goof around a little more, I'm gonna make my bed do all kinds of that june-bug wing opening stuff too.

I don't hate the younger group of mini truckers, I think all we are trying to say is the late 70's and early 80's mini truck days were much different. Nothing came easy in those days. My brother in law was the first one around here to put a small block in a LUV, I think it was around 1979. He bought his LUV new in 78 and my sister bought her LUV new in 80. I bought a LUV in 85 and have owned a few since. Us vintage guys have been around these trucks for a long time.
