I am at my yearly visit to Tulsa for the Chili Bowl. This year we have 275 cars all trying to make the 22 car main event on Saturday night. We got in yesterday morning picked up the rental car and off we went. The car was a Ford Fiesta, as I drove off my wife said I was driving it in a way that was not smooth. I said it was not me. We drove 5 miles to the hotel and I noticed the trans was slipping. I called Dollar rent a car and told them, they said it was fine, I said great, I will drive it until it dies and call them back. We went to lunch and now I lost reverse, I called them back and asked if they wanted to send a tow truck, they said drive it back to the airport and they would check it out. I told them I was a mechanic and did not know if it would make it, they again told me they were sure it was fine. I got to the airport and getting ready to turn into the rental car return are and now it was slipping real bad, I told my wife watch this, I red lined the engine and the car started to move then BANG, it stopped now. I got out to see fluid on the ground, popped the hood and now I see a hole in the trans. We walked the 50 yards to the booth, threw them the keys and told them to take kitty litter to clean up the road. They were pissed, I said I gave them the option to tow it and they declined. I watched them push it in. I asked for my new car and was told they would see if they could fix this one fast for us, I laughed so hard at them. Within 1 minuet of the mechanic opening the hood he yelled "send this one to auction". They gave me a brand new Camaro, not bad for for paying for a economy car.

The Camaro is fine, not a V-8 car but better then the roller skate I had before. I never get the up graded cars when I come out here, the hotel, air fare, food and tickets to the race already sets us back about 2K, I would rather up grade the hotel then the car. In the cars defense I did ride it hard knowing it was on the edge anyway.
