He missed tieing it by one spin, he made a small mistake but I know he will get the record on the next attempt come March.

That's cool.

That effect the camera makes with the propeller is trippy to watch.

Thanks for fixing the link.

If you look at the two gauges on the left, the one moving like crazy is the altitude. The other one that reads 0, that is his airspeed, he is in a true flat inverted spin.

What's wrong with being upside down? The airplane is made for it, dry sump oil system.

Well, this morning Spencer did it. At El Centro this morning he got 81 inverted flat spins. When the you tube video gets put up I will post a link. I will be doing some spin training from him soon, can't wait to feel a inverted flat spin.

His breathing really picks up when he falls through that little haze

He is actually breathing heavier due to him using his stomach muscles and leg muscles to direct the blood flow. It sounds strange but he had to practice that.

New Update....

A special plane has been acquired, it is now being outfitted with what is needed to crush his own record. We are looking for 100 inverted flat spins come April. I am honored to be part of the crew to support this attempt.

Looks like the first weekend in May we will be heading to Yuma Az. to try for the 100 inverted spins. Here is the plane he will be attempting to break his own record in.

Most of you dont know much about aerobatic airplanes this is a custom built Pitts S1. Most of these have a 180 HP engine that is a 4 cylinder 360 CI. This one has a 260 plus HP 6 cylinder that is 540 CI. Also the wings have been installed farther back by a foot or so. This plane weighs 1006 LBS without fuel and pilot. Compared to his other plane that he got the record with it has the same engine and prop, the old one weighs 1400 LBS.

Very impressive!!! Have to ask about the HP numbers tho. 340ci 4 banger making 180 and a 540 making 260 is there any reason for the fairly low HP/CI? Never done a lot of studying on plane engines

Aviation piston HP is low compared to automotive. We run our engines at a constant 2400-2700 RPM. Remember we want reliability in aviation and we are light too.

Here is the video of the first flight of the plane today.
