I have a hard time understanding why he just tells me "I was involved in a rescue on Greenland"and leave it there. At 22 years old he volunteered for the mission knowing many failed before him. I can't believe his kids are not proud of their father for this act. All they say is "no one wants to hear those old stories". I think a long lunch is needed to get more info from him on his WWII flying stories.
I agree . My neighbor and i have a friendship like this . He is an ex drag racer and has all the trophies , news paper clippings class record plaques in his garage . His kids dont understand what it took to acomplish some of these things . My story is nothing like yours , but similar . Waht your doing is noble
