I had my hopes up thinking I was getting out of the Navy in December and then I was going to MMI in Orlando for their Harley Davidson program. Well, Thursday at work, my chain of command presented me with some orders to Afghanistan. I had the choice on whether or not I wanted to go. After a lot of thought, I decided to take the orders and reenlist for a couple more years. So I head to Ft Bliss, TX on September 27th to do some training with the Army, then I'll be headed to Kuwait early December, and in Afghanistan by Christmas. I'll be back in September next year, just in time to go on deployment with the Nimitz for 8 months. So, I guess my projects will have to wait.

The good news is, that with back to back deployments and really no way to spend my money, I should have a boat load of cash saved up for whatever i want to do when I get back. So, after September, I'll be MIA from Luvtruck.com once again.

Well a decision like that isn't easy and though it's difficult, or impossible, to see the 'good' results behind a U.S. serviceman going overseas to such a hostile area, they are there. I thank you for serving even though the news or government dosen't acknowledge it. Stay in touch.

Honestly, I'm getting more and more excited about it. Between my Army and Navy time, I have about 8 years of service in and I've never been on deployment. I feel that I haven't done much with my career up to this point other than fix a few airplanes. So, I'm looking forward to actually doing something worthwhile and doing my part, etc. The financial benefits are nice also, but you can only do so much for money. After that it has to be something you believe in doing. So, I'm beginning to feel some pride about going and am looking forward to it. I'll be in touch off and on between now and December. Actually, I may even have internet when I get over there. I'm supposed to be working security at a pretty large base. I guess we'll see...

Wow, that's an interesting change of events.

I'm glad you explained it because when I read your first post I was like, "WTF?" LOL! But that makes sense now.

Be sure to send us some pics/videos of those "behind the scene antics" servicemembers do to relieve boredom! 8O

I love the old days, when I was Capt. America, when I feared nothing.
Nowadays, the mere smell of powder at the range, brings me back to those long days in far away god forsaken places with un-pronounceable heathen pagan names.

My prayers are with you, young warrior, may our Lord JesusChrist himself guide your bullets to the enemy's heart and send them to meet their ugly pagan god in hell.

Let us know the moment you come back.

Sure thing guys, thanks for the support. It should definitely be an experience. I'm not sure where exactly I'll be yet, or what I will be doing, but I'll post it as soon as I find out. I'm hoping that when I do my check in at Ft Bliss and I show them my paperwork from when I used to be in the Infantry, they'll send me somewhere that I can be useful.

In a couple weeks I'm getting INFIDEL in arabic tattoed on my wrist, just under my cross tattoo on my left forearm. That should piss them off good. :D

Before you do, check with a latest memo, ordering all not to wear any Tshirts in English or Arabic with the words Infidel (kufar) or hats, it might extend to tats, since it prohibits the 'display' of those words.
This proud infidel already sports such offending words prominently.

I'll look into, thanks. I had heard it was mostly the Army that put that out. Maybe it doesn't apply to me since i'm Navy? I'll find out. I'll probably get it anyways! :D Chances are, my sleeves will be down most of the time anyways.

Definitely. Its very quiet over here right now, at least around this area. The Taliban kind of goes into hibernation for the winter around here. They dont attack much around here. Probably this spring before anything flares up.

Hey shipwreck!! What's your rate?? I heard you say you fix airplanes and I know of ALOT of rates in the aviation community. I spent 10 months in Kuwait with customs at KNB from Nov 09-Aug10. Had a blast AND saved a bunch of money. Good luck out there!!

Now is the time to find them in the caves sleeping. Poke 'em with the business end of an M16 and give 'em lead poisoning! You better be safe over there, ya hear?
