 Hehe
Ok all you sick little puppies gather round * pulls up seat and clears throat*
This if for all you young'ns If you think you have it bad there think of this...... We had a Iraqi girl that was 15 that came in about three weeks ago with burns over 80% of her body. Well I got the whole story about a week later, It seems that she was in an arranged marriage ( which is the norm here) she defied her father and said she wasnt going to marry the guy, so in her defiance she went and had sex with another man and lost her virginity to him. Her father who was outraged killed the other guy and then doused his daughter in gasoline and set her on fire!!! Well she was sent to us to try to help her the best we could, unfortunately she died three days after I heard her whole story. She died on the way back home to get care in the hospital in Baghdad.
Well just another chapter in the Husker book..............

Just a thought to ponder,
You may not like or support this "war" (like my wife) :) But You should at least support the troops cause many of you may never know the horrors of what it's like and I hope none of you never do. I think that in some little way I am making a difference here for all of us... the guys here and for all of you back there!!!

I was in aircraft structural maintenance. So as you probably know, we repaired what the pilots broke. Loved my job! Unfortunately carpul tunnel in both wrists and "tennis elbow" from using impact tools for 15 years put me behind a desk. Typing sure dosen't help any! Now I am the Security Manager for the Group. About my daughter being in the Navy? I'm the one who said "at least you have your own floatation devices". I am so wrong in the head!!!!!! Anyway, take of our men and women over there.

How can life possibly be so bad as to take your OWN life?????? :( I mean I know military life is rough but I mean it cannot be so bad as to take a weapon and put it in your mouth and pull the trigger!
Especially if you have children! 8O
I know this is my vent thread but I mean for some ungodly reason there was a girl in Iraq who was in MI ( military intelligence) <------ Which is a oxymoron anyway  Anyway there was obviously something wrong with this girl that noone noticed.... and she kills herself  What the fuck!! Someone in her chain of command is a friggin moron! God dammit it really pisses me off that a young girl like this takes her life over something that could have probably been solved just by talking to this poor girl! Now there is a poor young child out there without a mommy! How fucking sad

I know exactly what your talking about. Three weeks ago we had a 21 year old girl that was late for work. Her supervisor called her house at 0715 hrs and talked to her. After hanging up, he immediately sent two people to her house as he said she didn't sound quite right. They got there 20 minutes later and found her in the living room, DEAD. They did what they could to save her, but it was too late. She slit her wrists along the arteries and had bled to death. During the follow-up investigation, it was determined that no one, not even her room mate, had any idea she was depressed, had problems, thought about suicide, etc. In fact, the night before, she had gone out to supper wih several of her friends as usual and nobody saw her acting unusual. To this day, why she took her like remains a mystery. Her chain of command and friends are still trying to figure out what they missed in her attiude and actions. It is sad that this happened, but as we aren't counselors, we miss the subtle things that can give us clues when others need help or support. Now we have several people seeing psychologists in dealing with her death, especially the ones who went to her house and saw the blood all over the floor and her lying in it.

Just one more thing Husker4eva. Keep doing your best to help and save the ones you can. We can't help and/or save everyone. In this day and age, too many things affect people in too many different ways and we can't help them all. I know it sounds wrong, but I feel that's the way it is. Like you, I too get trained in all of the basic suicide, depression identification, and counseling techniques just by being in the military. I know for a fact that this has helped save many lives, but not all of the ones that could have been saved. Each day brings new problems we must learn how to deal with.

I know what you mean. When I was in the army the first time my Flight platoon leader he was a great guy, never had any problems with anyone was always happy go lucky. Well I got out of the military and about a year later I saw one of my old flight platoon buddies who had told me that he came home one day and his wife said she wanted a divorce... so he sends her back to Puerto Rico til everything was settled, well after he sent her back he decides that she will not get anything from him and kills both of their sons( whom he loved dearly) ages 7 and 10 then killed himself! I was completely shocked at this news. I mean how or what goes on in your mind to want to take your kids life???? :( I find this very upsetting that you could actually think of murdering your child like that? It just saddens me. I mean noone but noone could ever make me want to do something like this I dont care how much I hated a person I could never see taking a childs life like that or my own for that much.
Such a weird world sometimes. Well just thought I would vent a little more!!

Here is a true story that shows just how strange people can be:
When My wife and I first got married WAY back when, she introduced me to some friends of hers that had been living together. I found out that they had lived together for about four years and decided to get married. After about one year they separated and then divorced. Sometime later, they got back together and shacked up again. They just recently got married again and seemed just fine. Not long after I met them, we found out that his wife stabbed him, they separated and divorced againm for the second time. My wife and I talked about this and in fact kept talking to both of them as they were nice people. Over the next several years, those two AGAIN got back together and since they had a little boy, decided to give him a stable life and got married for the third time. This time it didn't last one year before they had some bad arguments and she SHOT him. Of course they separated and divorced. Luckly she didn't kill him. Now for the best part. Right before I joined the Air Force in 1985, they got back together once more, but this time getting married was out of the question! Guess what! To this day they are still together and as happy as can be, BUT NOT MARRIED!!!! My wife and I stay in touch with them and just can't beleive it. I guess that little piece of paper saying Mr. and Mrs. just didn't work for them. Of course she kept his last name after the divorces, they LIVE together, but just can't be married to one another. Figure that one out! (PS. My wife would have shot me through the head if we went that far)

Well Hmmm we have gotten some good and bad news, We are supposed to be moving our hospital but we have to move it in the next two weeks! 8O It ought to be a hellacious experience not to mention a big cluster fuck!!!
On the other hand we are not supposed to have surgical capabilities which means one of two things....either most of us will be going home, well I should say that most of the other people from my section will be going home myself and three other guys have been designated as being the last people leaving......... which means I MIGHT be leaving with these guys or the other thing which means I will be going to a number of places Iraq, Afghanistan,Liberia or another place here in Kuwait! .
So guys and gals keep your fingeers crossed for me!
