So my cool lighted ashtray got me ... I use it as a power port to plug in my GPS. Course I didn't remember it stays with the light on when the key is off ... I unplugged my GPS but left the ashtray open. For like 2 weeks. The battery is now completely dead (0.6 V!!!) and I had to steal a battery out of my other car to use the truck. Hope I can re-charge the truck battery, it's pretty new.

Brought the battery back up using a 3 amp charger in about 24 hours. Seems to be OK! I wonder why more people didn't drain their battery with that ashtray light. Maybe it got rewired wrong, and it should only work with the key on or something. I guess it was the 70s.

I think on my trucks, the key has to be on for the that light/lighter to work.

Tried cussing like the dickens once...but all I got out of that was the great honor and privilege of my neighbors laughing their butts off when me and the tow truck showed up at my house with my truck.

My cigarette lighter outlet doesn't power off when I turn the truck off and I left my Ipod plugged in. When I got off work, my battery was dead. I keep a spare battery in the bed with a set of jumper cables just in case I do this kind of stupid stuff. haha.
