My friend lives in Frazier Park, its on the grapevine. His Suburban had a coolant leak so he added water, well it got into the 20s a few months ago. The water froze and actually cracked the block, all freeze plugs stayed in. I got the burb towed to my house and ordered a long block from Napa as well as a radiator, dist, water pump, all new belts and hoses, idler pullies, and all new tune up items totaling to 3200 bucks including core charges. I started pulling the engine at 6am and had the truck running at 4 pm. I noticed a coolant leak at the heater core, my buddy then tells me he sees a coolant leak at the tail pipe, I am thinking head gaskets on a rebuilt engine and was pissed. After looking it was the rear core leaking too. The leak that caused the original issue was the intake leaking. Has anyone else herd of a freeze taking out the heater cores as well of a block? I bet he fixes leaks quicker now.
