i guess i can start....
i got another 81 cm400c a few weeks ago, and i would like to make some improvements.
for starters, i would like to perhaps change the rear sprocket as a way to lower rpms on both the highway and for city driving.
would it be a simple affair of changing the sprocket with a smaller-toothed one? or is it more involved?
thanks guys!
lets see i have a 98 and 99 Honda CR125R, two stroke. both with black plastics, 99 race 98 practice. basic preformance mods, pistons, exhaust systems & spark arrestors, chains and sprockets, aftermarket clutch on the race bike,
dads got a pair of Honda XR200's one stock color, one completely done out with bought from a dealer john deere green, yellow, and black.... even had custom graphics made... of course the "runs like a deere" slow moving vehicle trangles on the number plates
it is pretty much that simple. im not real familiar with your bike but im assuming like most of them it has some adjustment to the rear wheel forward and backward to get chain tension dialed in. you should just be able to put on a different sprocket and adjust the wheel so you have correct chain tension. if you need to pull a link or two to get it where it should be thats also quick and easy..
depends on how much you change the size, just a tooth or two and you wont have a problem. i change my rear sprockets from ride to ride depending on where im riding for acceleration or speed,
just changing one or two teeth makes a noticable difference
