Just thought that since some of us ride, a thread for the machines we use would be a welcome addition to the forum.

I guess this can be a place for asking questions about all things motorcycles, bragging, showing off, etc.

i guess i can start....

i got another 81 cm400c a few weeks ago, and i would like to make some improvements.

for starters, i would like to perhaps change the rear sprocket as a way to lower rpms on both the highway and for city driving.

would it be a simple affair of changing the sprocket with a smaller-toothed one? or is it more involved?

thanks guys!

lets see i have a 98 and 99 Honda CR125R, two stroke. both with black plastics, 99 race 98 practice. basic preformance mods, pistons, exhaust systems & spark arrestors, chains and sprockets, aftermarket clutch on the race bike,
dads got a pair of Honda XR200's one stock color, one completely done out with bought from a dealer john deere green, yellow, and black.... even had custom graphics made... of course the "runs like a deere" slow moving vehicle trangles on the number plates

it is pretty much that simple. im not real familiar with your bike but im assuming like most of them it has some adjustment to the rear wheel forward and backward to get chain tension dialed in. you should just be able to put on a different sprocket and adjust the wheel so you have correct chain tension. if you need to pull a link or two to get it where it should be thats also quick and easy..
depends on how much you change the size, just a tooth or two and you wont have a problem. i change my rear sprockets from ride to ride depending on where im riding for acceleration or speed,

just changing one or two teeth makes a noticable difference

i love cr500's 8) meanest two stroke you can find! i have been looking for a cr500 engine to swap into a 98 CR125 chassis for a CR500AF. a 500 two stroke in an aluminum perimeter frame... epic.

what kinda riding do you do with yours?

thats basaiclly what made me decide its what i wanted to do. went to a race blew my fork seal, was in the garage figuring out how to do it myself and bam it hit me. i want to work on bikes.

i want a cr500, that would be hell of a good time. im looking to get a 250 two stroke after school, i miss the smell the sound and the all out fun you get from the power band.

two strokes are great 8) cheap and easy to maintain and upgrade, light powerful, oh yeah CHEAP... gotta love em the new 250 and 450f's cost soo much... you could buy a used two stroke for the price of an exhaust and tires for a 450f!

yep, and rebuilds become a pain on 4 strokes. for some reason when you remove the head the valves tend to relax and you gotta buy all new shims which becomes a whole new project which is where im at with mine. wish i was in a shop right now with all the shims at my availability.

the newer ones are made to run with such an insane amount of power drom a TINY motor even being a little bit out of adjustment makes them run like crap, you can run a two stroke with just fluid changes for a year or more without having to do a thing
