I've been stuck inside this godawful hotel in Dallas for two days now. Anyone else stranded by this freak winter weather?

Not yet, but they are calling for it tonight, and I have to go in to work. Hoping I don't get stuck there for sure...

The meetings I wanted to go the last 3 nights were canceled. My wife's job was canceled. Tomorrow the roads should be open and we don't have anywhere to go.

I don't mind the cold so much. There is like 2 inches of solid ice on the roads out here though.

Not stuck but yea SOLID ice in the roads. You could litterally spend all day pulling people out of the ditch. I have not seen it this bad EVER here. (central Texas) It hasn't been above 20* in three days.

But its still not this cold :D

So I finally got out of Dallas yesterday morning. Took I45 down to Houston, and then left there for Alexandria, LA. 500+ miles of driving, and 7 miles from my destination the highways are all shut down due to ice. It took me FOUR more hours to go 7 miles. Then to the hotel, another hour to go 8 miles.

I don't understand people the way they drive on this mess. Slow down, you'll be fine. People get in a hurry, fly past you, and then cause a 4 hour delay when they wreck. How much time did they save?

Let's see if I make it home tomorrow.

That's cold!

I bought a few bottles of Mexican coke while I was in Dallas. You know, the kind in the glass bottles that have real SUGAR instead of corn syrup. I left them in the truck overnight. It got so cold that it blew the cap off of one of them. The frozen coke was sticking out of the top of the bottle like a cork.

Ain't no better here right now Drummer, maybe around lunch it will warm up enough for the ice to melt. Watching all the fair weather drivers this morning was certainly entertaining, unless they were oncoming...

I completely agree gents. You've got the grandmas in the town cars going 5 mph and the idiots in their lifted f-150 that think they can go 50 mph. Both of which are extremely dangerous and both of which severely piss me off!

I'm in Tulsa and we got about 18" on Tuesday and another 6" or so today. Woot.

My daughter was stuck in NYC, a day, then she made Houston and on to San Antonio. They had rolling blackouts in Texas. Not in my little podunck town...I guess it is all or nothing. They did close the wife's work Friday. Snow and Ice are rare in South Texas.... Got to be Global Warming  Don't matter to me, I am stuck inside with my broke ankle.

PS: Since when did weather effect driving in Texas. You are right though. Sort of like the post office motto, nether rain, or snow, or gloom of night will stop us from driving with the pedal to the metal.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.
