I don't usually post alot of serious personal info out here but this is one guy deserving of recognition and respect. I had a neighbor where I grew up in S.C. with only a drive way and hedge separating out houses. He was a very nice man and always had time for just about anyone and everyone who needed something. He was a Navy WW II vet, farmer, owned the GE business in town and a very religious man. He was a big time hunter and his son didn't care anything about it. I was always chasing birds and squirrels with my BB gun but as things were, my dad didn't hunt and one day my neighbor asked me to go deer hunting with him. He loaned me an aold single shot 20 gage (that was about all I could handle as a 10 year old) and on the 3rd trip I got lucky and took a small 3X3 buck. That started a 9 year outdoor relationship until I left for active duty AF. He came to see me off when I left.

This was a guy who always did the right thing, helped anyone who needed it and cared about people in general. I know we all lose friends, relatives and mentors; it's part of life but outside of family members I can't think of one person who had such an impact on my life and who I am today. He was 86, lost his wife of almost 60 years about two years ago and said he was ready to go HOME. He's there now.
