I got this truck, I think it's a 56, about 4 years ago in a trade, went and picked it up finally. Cab is pretty solid, I plan on putting the cab on an S10 chassis and replacing the tilt front cap with better stock stuff. Truck doesn't have a bed, but I think I have one lined up. Turck is actually in a LOT better shape than the pics show...

OK, I cleaned it out on the inside and gave everything a quick cleaning, pulled up the old floor insulation as well. As I suspected, the old girl is in pretty decent shape for it's age, especially around here. There are a couple of small holes in the footwell under each door, which on most of these trucks locally, there won't be any of the footwell left, and a couple of spots under the gastank, where the cab mounts are, another problem area. I also decoded the vin today, it is a1956 1/2 ton. At some point the front cap has been changed, as the fender badges have 3200 series, which is the long beds...

Cab corners are decent as well, pass side has no holes, one soft spot on the drivers. I am going to wear out my big grinder with a wire wheel on the floors, gonna blast the rest of it. Front of the cab on the overhang above the windshield is golden too...

In this pic you can see the pass cab corner, disregard the black spots, that is the paint where some rattle can primer has flaked off...

Cool. My buddy Pete has a '55 that his dad bought in about 59 or 60. Drove it untill 77 when he bought a new 1/2 ton. Pete's sister owned it for many years, and a few years ago sold it to him.

Man my buddy is addicted to that style pickup. Mostly the 58-59 models. He has been working on several off and on for about 13 years. Just got it "done" about 3 months ago. Its amazing. To bad your not closer he sold all his spare parts, close to five complete trucks just the other day. Great project...keep us posted

I have a built bbc on the stand, but I always wanted a street blower motor, but I also like the idea of a twin turboed LS motor. Decisions, decisions...

My ex brother in law had a 55 chevy that he had restored years ago...he discovered drugs, alcohol and laziness and lost it. Can't wait to see the completed project.
