I have a desktop with Windows XP. Just installed a Linksys card (B) and can not get the DAMN thing to work with my MiFi. The VZAcess Manager shows it and "sometimes" when I open it, it will connect. But when I open Internet Explorer, it says the webpage I requested is not available offline. Click on connect and get the "no connection available" message. I have Verizon MiFi 220 listed under Broadband in network connections, but it is disconnected. When I click on connect, it tried to dial it. Any ideas? I tried to follow the on line help with microsoft and think I made things much worse. Networking and electrical problems SUCK!!!

well, a couple of questions.

you say you are using a wifi card right? what kind of modem are you using? cable ? DSL?

what type/brand modem and router are you using?

And just for information, is your setup connected like this:?

Internet source (DSL jack/Cable) --> into Modem -->into router (wireless i'm assuming)

Which should connect or at least display the new card you installed in your computer.

Also, did you use any of the software that came with the actual card? sometimes you have to use the wizard or control program specific to that card. (Utilities)

also, and this is just one of those "simple things making things work like crap" kind of deals, but check to make sure ALL your wired connections are in fact connected securely.

Hope this helps!

No modem. It's the MiFi wireless by Verizon. My operating system is WinXP and the wireless card is a Linksys Wireless-B PCI. The computer sees the card and shows excellent signal strength, but that's all. No wires connected. I CAN access the MiFi when using a cable to it, but that limits me to using the desktop at my back door and my wife can't get on-line while a cable is plugged in to it.

hmm. so the mifi "modem" is what the computer is connected to then...

how long ago did you get it? sometimes you have to call verizon to get off their lazy buts to guide you through connection sequences...

i'm not experienced at using any verizon components. i'm old school. sorry!

Not familiar with the MiFi either but sounds like whatever is "broadcasting" the signal to the wireless card is not working. Can you connect to the MiFi using your cell phone? Can you reset the connection? Does it have a power source?

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.
