I was working on my luv today when I drove by a jem. I saw a dude with a toyota pickup turbo. He had upgraded the turbo to a garrett t04-t05 hybrid. I have pictures that I will post. It was immaculate. He had even added an intercooler and a custom tacoma pre runner bumper.

Im a big toyota fan and I know the 22ret like the back of my hand.

Things to look forward to is does it have a Cracked Manifold (These things cracked alot I have lots a 22rte parts in the garage). Its awesome that he upgraded the turbo the Stock CT-20 is a piece of junk only lasts roughly 60,000 miles and it really didn't give the engine enough boosts. One down fall of the 22rte engine it only produces 150hp max, ive seen very few in the 200-250hp range and still be a dependable engine. If your thinking of swaping one into the chevy luv, Look into a 3rz 2.7L motor out of a tacoma. It puts out alot more power and If you turbo it just right you could see around 700hp.

I have had a few 20r's and they were tough engines. I would think the 22r line would be the same too. Only thing you have to watch on adding a turbo to a non turbo engine is the amount of boost you run. Turbo engines run around 8 to 1 compression. Some do not have forged, or up graded pistons and other things. Distributors have to be set up for turbo use and EFI systems need to be setup for boost...

You may already know all of this....

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.
