Did the Buick Opel have the Isuzu motor in it original? Is the Opel basically a Holden?

its a unilug , 4x100 / 4x114 i think...made for the RWD imports, used mostly by the drifters... ok the cars body was opal made in Germany which Buick owns part of, then they where sent to Isuzu and the motor and tranny where used and a few other little changes where done. they where sold in the UK as Vauxhall (Chevy) Chevette and in Australia as Holden (Chevy ) Gemini... there are guys down there getting 1000 hp out of these motors. Here they where sold as Buick /Opel but the badges on the side and back say Opel by Isuzu so who knows… ill badge it as a Holden (Chevy) and let people try to figure it out… oh it was also sold by daewoo

Nice buy CtMandu. The wood accents in the red interior make me wonder if it has a rear swaybar?
In the US I think only the LS level I-Marks did but I'm not sure about the Buick/Opel by Isuzu :?: :econfused
If not you can snag one from an early Impulse.
Mr Jerry knows.
He improved a Coupe for his dau to take to school back in the day.

:ebiggrin :ebiggrin (BTW Jerry, TYVM for sharing your knowledge & time so generously) :ebiggrin :ebiggrin

Sold around the world under about 40 different names, the T-body began life from Isuzu which GM had a controlling interest in at the time (1975). In Japan it was the Isuzu Gemini and could be had with our familiar crossflow G180Z or a DOHC 1.8 G180W(note the rear deck spoiler on the sedans & the hood vents)

The GMHolden Gemini was Car of the year in Australia that year available in Coupe, Sedan, wagon, & panelvan. In Oz it was powered by either the 1.8 diesel or 1.6/G160Z. The 1.6 heads have more room for performance gaining port work - Darren of Gemracing just ran a 9.01/146.9 in a 1.8 powered Gem sedan.
Unfortunately his next run went bad taking a hard left at 1/2 track but still managed to clock 11secs sliding across the line on his roof! 8O

Known as the Opel Kadett & Vauxhall Chevette in Europe there were sedan & estate body styles (3 door hatchbacks, 2 & 4 door wagons, & a 2 door sedan)
There was also a rare "aero" style

Known in S Korea as the Daewoo Maepsy it was configured similarly to the NA badged Buick/Opel by Isuzu (1975? - 1979?), Pontiac T1000 (US) or Acadian(Canada) (not sure about motivation on these), & the Isuzu I-Mark(US) (1.8 gas or diesel from 81 thru 84 1/2) 2 door Coupe or 4 door sedan. The Chevy Chevette in US could be 3 door or 5 door (1.6 gas/1.8 diesel)(not sure about Brazilian Chevette power).
We never got turbo option in US due to interference with the steering linkage being LHD
If I forgot anybody sorry but understandable.

Nice looking Gemini Coupe Troy, those front and rear bumpers would look better with the Australian type brackets, the Aussie bumpers hugged the body better because they dont have the impact absorbtion built in like the US versions. The indicaters look better down in the valance also. See pics below.
