And i blame my sister Ginny. She has pushed the issue that i should buy one and when i went home to Texas for the 4th of July, she was relentless. Every reason i could think of for not making the jump she would shoot a hole in it. Ginny was ruthless.
I explored the H-D website and the FXD caught my attention. The drive back to Ga had my mind cluttered with the thought of having that Dyna. I decided to see one up close as to find some kind of problem with that particular model so it wouldn't be to likeing anymore and the issue would die. There wasn't any. I was screwed...
20 minutes later my credit was approved.
Today im taking delivery of my new H-D. Pewter pearl silver in color. This thing is as close to owning a Fighter Jet as i'll ever get. I already priced a Stage I "Screaming Eagle" kit and forward controls.

By no means will the LUV be put out to pasture because of this. The LUV is safely parked at a friends house 15 miles away. This just means that i'll have fun getting to and from the LUV as i fix all the stuff it needs. New hood, iron out tuning bugs with the freshly built- up motor, Install a trans cooler and the like.
But as for this weekend, it's all about the Dyna Super Glide.

Post some pics!

I almost bought a 1200 Harley Sportster a couple of months ago. I wasn't crazy about getting a small bike like that. I ended up getting another Japanese bike. I got the big boy this time though. A 1500 Suzuki Intruder Cruiser. The "Suzuki Fat Boy" lol.

One day I will be able to afford a Harley.

When I was in high school Hotrod magazine ran an ad in the back for the 883 sportster just $2995 with a tradin value of $2995 within 3 years pending condition . I bought a black one and rode it for a year or so and went back to the dealer and traded it for a 1979 FXLR lowrider . Still 4 speed , chain , first year for 80" shovel . Last year for AMF . Rode that thing 89,000 miles and never tore into it . Good times man , good times :smt033

I need to get ahold of a better camera than the one i have. This camera won't due it justice.
By the way, Ginny is looking into getting her own licence. Bob (her hubby) has an Electra Glide and they're all into it.

Well, One of my friends from work will be here shortly to give me a lift to the dealership. He's got down payment $$$ in his pocket if they got a Fat Boy that stikes his fancy. I may not respond for a while but when i do, i'll give you the big rundown on the Dyna.

You have my sympathy. j/k

I was looking at those Yamaha Road Stars last year. I have this being short legged problem. Harley's are too high, unless a after market seat would lower one enough. I heard Mustang makes some, but I have not seen one on a Harley. The Yamaha is low enough, even the 1100. Maybe after I sell my house.

Please no Jap crap comments. I used to motorcross Yamaha's, even had a local dealer as a sponsor. It was the baddest bike around then.

This thing is Bad Ass!!! I made 3 visits to show off the bike and within 4 hours, i put 100 miles on it already. I even got caught in 3 rainstorms. My ass got soaked. Also, my ass hurts a little because i rode the entire time with the owners manual, documentation paperwork and the like wrapped up in plastic shoved down the back of my pants. With all this rain coming thru the area now has me and the bike parked for the day. Saturday and Sunday call for clear skies so i should have some smooth sailing.

I own a Heritage Softtail. I love my bike but like many Harley owners will tell you, buying the bike is cheap, wait till you get the accesorey's bug. LOL

I have 17K in extras on mine, not bad for a bike that cost 18K, you do the math. It is all worth it to me.

I really dont see myself going all out with add ons. I do see the fact that i'll need forward controls because i am 6ft. tall. And i picture the "Screaming Eagle" Stage I kit with new slip ons to get a better exhaust sound.
The clean simplicity of the FXD is what drew me to buying it. The Rocker Softail almost caught me until i seen the oil tank. It looks odd as hell (I think).
Local riders have advised me to get a windshield because of all of the insects along the coast. If that's the case i might as well get in my truck. It has a windshield too, a stereo, A/C and cruise control.
I too have spent most of my cycling life on Dirt Bikes and it pretty much dictates the concept. I can't dispute the "Dresser" concept at all. Millions of riders cant be mis-directed. It's just not the direction i want to go with.

Go buy you a back pack and carry that stuff in. Your butt will hurt enough if you are not used to riding a bike... And while you might want to smile a lot, don't unless you have a face shield  Texas is a no helmet state, but I ware one.

I put 370 miles on it in 2 1/2 days. These were break-in miles and a learning curve. I need to break some ingrained Dirt Bike habits.
Im leaning forward, elbows bent like i ready for ruts and bumps on the trail. Hugging the bike with my legs isn't needed because body english is not required. Stop trying to place my feet directly below the seat and find the foot pegs. My chrome exhaust pipe is getting melted boot heel all over it. And most of all, I need to lug the motor from gear to gear compared to a off road machine.
By Sunday i had a handle of what was needed to correctly ride this slick H-D.
I owe a butt load of money before it's all mine and i dont care. I'll gladly make the monthly payment and all other bills will have to get in line.

I can't resist saying this....

All the lawyers, ceo's and movie actors don't want to get wet.

No offense to anyone. It is a stereo type, your are either a Hells Angel or some rich guy. Well it's Texas, so I guess it would be a Bandito.

I wouldn't kick it out of my garage.

Harleys and jap bikes are like Ford's and Chevy's, it's just a preference. I went from a Hayabusa to a Heritage Softtail, that was a difference.
