Been bowhunting since I was about 12 yrs old. Have taken lots of deer, a few wild hogs, squirells, carp, coons etc with a bow. Never managed to outsmart a Texas Rio Grande Turkey until today.

I blew a shot at a realy nice Tom yesterday... long story. But made up for it this evening, I called in a bunch of Jakes to about 23 yards, and centerpunched one right through the base of his neck, not too shabby for a twitchy 4" diameter target at 23 yrds.
Dropped him flat.

Also the first kill with my new bow, a Mathews S2.

NICE!! How do you like the S2? I traded in my FX this year for a Bowtech Guardian. It took me a week to decide but finally went with the botech. Our Turkey season doesn't start until Sunday but I will be installing kitchen cabinets next week. :x   Maybe I'll get to go the week after.

The S2 is an awesome bow. I have shot Mathews bows since 2001, always PSE or Bear before then. And been overly impressed with the quality and innovation in them, and they just flat out shoot. I got the S2 after going through 2 Legacys and an Ultramax since 04, and I never thought I'd find anything better than a Legacy. I'm pretty sure this one will curb my "new bow fever" for some time. Makes a pretty good 3D bow too.

Yeah, I had my FX for I think 5 seasons, before that I didn't bow hunt. I liked the short size and light weight of the FX but the new parrallel limb technology takes nearly all of the jump and a lot of the shock out of the release. I actually was looking at the Drenlin when I bought mine. Yeah, I lost my "new bow fever" when I wrote the $1300 check (fully loaded w/ doz. arrows). Good luck on the rest of the season.
