I dont know why I have to stop my car by pulling a bit of wire out of the dash...any takers on this one...? Seems a bit wierd and is their a way around it?

That piece of wire is hooked to a butterfly on the intake of the engine, when pulling the wire it closes the butterfly. This starves the engine off air and stalls/stops it. Shagg's are you sure your Luv is a 1980? It sounds to me like you have a much earlier series, drum brakes, column shift etc.

Shagg's, I visited your myspace page and checked out your pictures. I now know why you have to pull the wire to stop your Luv. The wire in your Luv has been disconected from its solenoid, the wire in the picture(#1) should be hooked up at position (#2)

Hi Mate, I wonder why someone woould do this modification...any sugestions? Plus my car is a 1980 mlodel as it is stamped on the vin plate.

The previous owner most like'ly made this mod because the solenoid no longer worked.
