but my dad used to run a small archery shop out of the house, so i had access to about anything i wanted. i never minded fletching my own arrows. dad had the cutoff lathe and about 2 dozen EZ fletchers. i would re-fletch and stripe mine about once every 2 months or so.

Does just a little, I've been shooting a bow steadily since I was 11 years old(30 years, yikes). And I was determined I wasn't changing mine for nothing.
But as long as you bare shaft tune and verify clearances it realy has little effect, the FOB is designed to correct itself. Can see it would be a problem with a big ass Grizzly Adams beard though
The biggest benefit to them is how they correct or eliminate crosswind drift, especially at 40-60 yards. Not too common for whitetails etc, but Elk hunters commonly shoot at those distances and seem to be the biggest fans of them.
