Braved the cold this morning. had a feeling it was a good day to get in the stand.

Had been watching several does, wandering around acting kinda skiddish. Let off a few bleat calls and about 5 minutes later this old guy joined the group. Came in gruntin, chasing the does around, wondering who was ready. :)

Lightest colored deer I think I've ever seen, partialy due to age, lotsa grey hairs on him too. Guessing he must have had a much nicer set couple years ago, and has been declining.

For his age, yes he's kinda puny. We looked at his teeth and estimate him at about 6yrs old. Normaly that would be a brute around here.

This guy, kind of a fluke in many ways. Especially his color, most here are a dark brown/black mix.

And all our deer a free range, no high fence bs, or 5 acre Tecamate food plots. just a couple corn feeders and lotsa oaks.

And I've decided to not be a picky when bowhunting in 33*.
He needed killin :)

Still waiting for this guy to reapear.

He almost looks like the one I got.

I never made it into my stand, him and a doe were right under my stand.
I could have gotten the doe too, she stood about 5 feet away from the buck even when I walked up on him.

I got tired of the squirels today....

now they both reside in the freezer :)

I declared war on the squirrels about 4 years ago. Got a Beeman 1000fps pellet rifle, went to work. I bet I have been thru 4-5 tins of pellets in that time and have my own squirrel bonepile in the alley behind my shop.

Hardly put a dent in the population, they are still eating my friggin house.

But hey, I got time and lotsa pellets.
