Yesterday was fun.

All this, and I was putting in a carb out in the shop... thought "hmm, the wind sure is blowing, and damn it's awful dark for 4:15 8O

Was a close one for sure, from the picture in the paper and accounts from people I talked to, the funnel was maybe 1-2 miles from my house.

I agree, I had lived in Texas all my life til I joined the Army and moved to Fort Ord CA, I was there for the Loma Prieta quake back in 90(?), got to watch cars 'walk' accross parking lots like the old eletronic football game :)

Had a few other tremors throughout the 4 years I was there, one in a guard tower 30 feet off the ground... there was no sleeping on duty that night.

I was at Ft. Ord. 91-94. Spent my last 8mo boarding up housing....
Went back there a few years ago, shouldn't have. I didn't like seeing things so run down...terrible.

No shit ?!? (ex)SGT Fisher here.

That's pretty much what I and my skeleton crew did. I was original with A 7/15 FA. Once everyone else left, I was re-assigned as "garrison" R&U NCOIC...pffft. My 1SG was still around so he kept me outta most of the shit detail. It was a pretty sham job, got to catch up on all the golf I missed from time away at Hunter Ligget, Camp Bob and Ft Chaffee. :)

I ETS'd right before Christmas in 93, left active duty in Jan 94.
