I'd like to hear everyone's feedback on this. Pot has been around a pretty long time, and it's been a relatively short time since it was formally "banned."

I personally am for legalizing it, as long as it is regulated. The government would benefit more from taxing it, than spending millions of dollars on a losing war.

The real reason I am posting this though, is for more selfish reasons.

I suffer from Migraine headaches, and resent research has shown THC to provide significant relief from these. I have been taking Imitrex for almost 2 years now, and while the pills and injections work great, the headaches are now much more frequent, and much more severe. I am averaging 2 per week now, while I USED to have one every other month or so. Any google search on the subject of Pot and Migraine will eventually yeild the same result: 2 or 3 puffs and the pain leaves. Within 5 minutes. Imitrex takes at least 30 minutes to begin to work, and then I am usually useless for the rest of the day anyhow.

Post... thoughts...

It's not a thing I do very often, but I agree, it could be controlled just like alchohol and tobacco, and then maybe this country could manage to pull itself outta the toilet. 8O
And besides, drunk drivers are an every day thing, but NOT once in all the years I have been on this planet have I ever heard of someone high runnin over somebody and killing them.
Gunna be interesting to see where this post ends up :D

I agree 100%

The question has also been asked......Who would you rather be around, someone who is drunk or someone who is high? I'd take the latter anyday :D

I voted yes. I don't smoke, but I just don't think it's the governments job to tell people what they can or cannot do to themselves.

you don't need me to give an opinion on weather or not to use for med reasons......i have spinal damage.

however, the regulation of something that grows in the dirt is a totaly assinine idea to me. especialy when every other commercial on tv these days is a perscription drugs that have side effects that are worse than what you're taking the pills for........

I was schooled christian(baptist) and even though i'm not a church goer, i still remember the passage in genisis about the "seed bearing plants and the animals that roam the earth" being ours to use.

marijuana legislation is a scam from the days when lumber companys took over the paper industry, and now is used to strong arm anybody who is a"NON CONFORMER".

remember ......it's not illegal if you don't get caught.....when my state offers me protection(real) i'll get a med card but till then I'm staying off those a$$h@les lists.

So we have 7 votes for yes, and three more that apparantly aren't against it.

3 of you guys voted no.... I'd like to hear reasons... And reasons that are above those "harmless?" ads. We all know the stereotype of potheads and how dangerous it is. Does anyone have a "fresh" take on why it should remain illegal? First hand stories of bad things that have happened?

Let's try to be nice, I really want to hear both sides.

Okay, First I want to say " I was gonna pass this one up!! " But seems I can't do it. I have to totally agree w/ drummer. Mind altering drugs doesn't seem like something we need to okay in the states. I know we are broke, and it would probably be a profitable increase in the states funds, but I don't personally think the world needs any help with not grasping reality  This is just my .02 and lord knows that I personally, have been known to hit it, when the time is right :P PEACE

hmmm interesting...

I don't do it, and never have, but I guess I think that it should be legal, but regulated. I have no idea how they'd regulate it though. I think at first there'd be like a 'pot frenzy' but after a while it'd die down and it wouldn't be so popular. Kinda like in Europe where kids can drink, it's not really a big deal and they don't really abuse it. Whereas here, you ban something and that's what everyone is trying to get their hands on. Also, alcohol and cigarettes are addictive, heck coffee is, but those aren't banned.

I'm kinda on the fence though, 'cause pot has shown to kill brain cells. :? Americans seem to be missing enough brain cells these days anyways, we need to keep the few we have left. lol Anyways I just wouldn't want to see it in widespread use.

Jess just reminded me of something that happened back in high school...
It was in the late 80's and I was at the movies with a couple of my cousins. before the movie came on there was this anti pot commercial that came on and said something about killing brain cells. My cousin says loudly "That's ok, I got hunnerds of em!"
Still makes me laugh...

That's because the guy who's high is driving like, 3mph. Any contact at that speed may cause mild bruising. Serious stuff here.

At this point in time... i could care less. Im 16, so even if it was legalized, it wouldn't affect me in the least for another 2 years or more. Personally, i smoke when i feel like it, and im really not worried about anyone who's trying to stop me. I think that the idea of controlling what someone wants to do to themselves is ludacris. I use good judgement when im high... i never drive stoned, i dont do it at school, and i try not to do it in public. Those who smoke pot dont care if its legal or not, so i guess the issue is access for those with a "green" card. I think that it needs to be done, but personally, i dont know how it could be done with proper regulation. That's what state and federal governments are for :D

The point.... hmmm....

Some people don't see the point in building a 500 horsepower car when you don't really ever get to open it up.

Whether it's screaming down the quarter mile, or buzzing on a joint, alot of people want their own individual "highs" My father-in-law hang-glides.

Aside from the "fun" there are some medical benefits too.

BTW, I voted I'm high right now.......I wish I WAS!!!!
Seriously though, I would vote YES!!! I also suffer from those DAMN migraine headaches (thanks mom), There's not a damn prescrition out there that has helped mine!!! I never considered the weed. (I might now though)
I haven't hit a joint in 17 yrs!! I realized I was hooked on it, when I was token on 1 at a red light...& a COP sittin in the car next to me,lookin straight at me!!!!! That was my LAST joint!! But for 6 yrs. straight ALL my money went for the weed.

So, drummer you have my YES vote.
