im wiring up my dads feed room and need a diagram to reverse a single phase motor with two three pole contactors. Ive done this before but the motor i did it on didnt have the windings labeled, they were just colored. anybody have one?

I think it varies from motor to motor. What make and model is the motor?

You may have something like this setup:

L1 __________ blue (T1) to motor
__capacitor___ red (T4) to motor
__________ orange (T5) to motor

L2 _________white (T2) to motor
_________ black (T3) to motor
_________ yellow (T6) to motor


Typically to reverse you would interchange T3 and T4, but not all single phase motors are reversible.

If I see something on the net with a diagram, I'll post it. Otherwise, if you need more help I'll have to draw something up myself using MS paint or something.

Also, if possible, try and get reversing contactors that have some sort of electrical or mechanical interlock to prevent both directions from engaging at the same time.

i got two three pole contactors and the "interlocking kit" it came with the mechanical interlocking deal and a plate to put on there so before it goes to the coil it goes through the normally closed on the other one. never seen one of them before, but ya it will be electrically interlocked. I dont remember off the top of my head what kind it is and i wont be around it until tomm afternoon. Thanks
