My sons swear by the Creative Zen, same functionality as the more expensive iPods.

I have a SanDisk Sansa e250, it's 2GB and only costs about $110, about that same size as a Nano but your not confined to using iTunes (which sucks btw) It received good reveiws from Consumer Reports as one of the better non-Apple MP3 players. They are avalible in sizes ranging from 1 GB all the way up to 8GB.

I have the 4GB IPOD, and I think it's bitchen'. You can put any CD on it, it only takes a second to add it to Itunes. Plus you have the reliability of an obviously well known product. A lot of the cheaper not as well known products might go out of the marketplace, but pay a little more and you have a great product that isn't going anywhere. Look at all the aftermarket products that are being made... I mean can you get an hook up for a "SanDisk Sensa e250" that plugs into your car Stereo? I have my IPOD hooked up to my alpine, no prob. In my opinion its worth the little extra for all the easily available aftermarket products and service. Just my thoughts...

Yes they make an adapter for the Sansa that will hook up to your car stereo..I have one and it works just fine. As far as "a better product" one thing that Apple won't tell you is that all the music you have on your iPod MUST be on your computer, if it isn't there iTunes will deactivate whatever music is there and your screwed. Also once you get your iPod set up you can only use it on one computer...one and only one. That and you have to download iTunes...not much of a problem..but my Sansa runs on Windows Media player..and several other media players as well, which means I can get music off of any computer in the world, and since all computers running Windows XP or Vista have Windows Media Player already loaded onto them there is no need to download any software. And another thought...if your battery ever craps out on your Ipod you'll have to send it in to Apple to have it replaced. On my Sansa all I have to do is go to the store and buy another LG cellphone battery. Another feature that my Sansa has is the ability to expand the memory...I may only have 2 GB of storage space now..but all I have to do is go to my local electronics store and pick up a Micro SD card and I'll have an additional storage capacity of up to 8 GB for a total of 10 GB to get that kind of storage space you'll have to step up to a regular iPod, and they run in excess of $250. Just throwing the info out there, better to know what your getting into then to buy something and then find out that it was a pile of crap

I have the Sirius S50. It's a combo Satellite radio/MP3 player. The cool thing is if you're listening to a song you like, press the button and it saves it to the mp3 player itself. You can also upload/download songs to and from your computer like a regular mp3 player.

Well the Sansa sounds like a much better option than the Ipod. Ive never been the type to buy something just because of its name or high price. I have a couple questions though. 2GB, 8GB. I know thats storage space but can it be put into terms of how many songs the player will hold? And Ive seen some new Toyotas where I work with mp3 compatible radios, how does that work? Im assuming there are after market radios out there with the same capabilties?

My cd player has a usb port and I just plug in my usb memory stick full of tunes to play music. I have several 1 gig's that I bought cheap on sale and each one has different music on it.

It also has a plug for an mp3 player...and my wife has a sansa (that she loves so much that she won't ever let me touch it...lol) that she plugs into it too.

BTW...a cd holds about 700 megs and usually is limited to about 15- 20 songs, (depending on their length), so that should give you an idea of how much space you will want or need.

Just my $.02 worth.
