a friend has a pay as you go phone and says it uses other cell companies towers so the coverage is better than any single company,not the cheapest way to go though.verizon has excellent coverage.

trac-fone have had same phone for almost four years. Costs me a 160 bucks a year for 1600 minutes. Works great for me. Not for everyone, roaming etc. Does anyone have a solar powered phone charger? Might be a life saver in a survival situation, never seen one.
